About Dr. Rosenfeld: Dr. Rosenfeld is certified by the American Board of Obstetrics and Gynecology and has had special training in microsurgery. He has been performing tubal reversal surgery since 1980, having performed over 2000 surgeries using the microsurgery technique. His goal is to optimize your chances of conceiving through surgery.

The Surgery: The tubes are repaired using a multilayer technique followed by a chromotubation dye test to ensure the tubes are open. The surgery is performed using Magnification Loops, through a mini laparotomy incision of about 3 inches located at the hair line. The incision is held open with specialized surgical instruments. The incision is closed using a plastic surgery technique and suture, resulting in minimal scaring. Patients go home the day of surgery.

The surgery is performed in a new state-of-the-art outpatient surgery center - First Street Surgical Center. The On-Q pain pump, a revolutionary pump, is available for an additional fee of $275. This method of local pain control enables patients to recover comfortably without the need for oral pain medications that cause bothersome side effects such as congestion, constipation, and drowsiness.

The use of the On-Q pain pump enables the patients to have minimal recovery pain. Patients are able to travel home the day after surgery. The time you take to recover is individualized, and depends on the type of work you do. You are expected to be up walking about the next day and not stay in bed. Patients using the On-Q pump do recover faster than those taking traditional pain medications.

What to expect from surgery: As a result of the surgery, the tubes will grow back together. That is why many physicians will give you a money-back guarantee. In most cases, it does not matter if your tubal ligation was done with clamps, tying, or burning.

The length of time since your tubal ligation does not affect your tubes ability to grow back together. Your individual success rate is affected by your age, how regular your periods are, and your partner’s sperm count. How long you need to wait to start trying to get pregnant will be determined by you and Dr. Rosenfeld. In typical situations you will benefit from waiting three months.

Fees: The fee is $6000.00 which covers the pre-operative lab work, surgeon’s fee, anesthesia fee, operating room, and postoperative care until the evening of surgery. A One thousand dollars deposit is required to schedule your surgery date. Rare & unexpected circumstances are not covered by the surgery fee. The On-Q pain pump is an additional $275.00.

The office is on many insurance plans and will gladly bill the insurance company for any portion of the treatment covered. Semen analysis is available for an additional fee.

Payment plans are customized to your individual need. Please contact Olga, (713)790-0099, to set up a payment plan.

What you should bring to an appointment: A copy of your Operative Report from your tubal ligation surgery is very helpful. Copies of lab results, x-rays &/or hormone studies are also useful. (Medical Records Release Form). This information can be faxed and reviewed by Dr. Rosenfeld in advance of an appointment. Referrals from other physicians are welcome.
